The Department

Alfred Health Radiation Oncology (AHRO) is a unit of a comprehensive cancer service, with sites located at The Alfred - Melbourne (ARO) and Gippsland Radiation Oncology (GRO) at Latrobe Regional Hospital (LRH) - Traralgon. The service provides the full range of general radiation oncology and radiation therapy services in addition to some specialised services with both state and national significance.

Location Summary

The Latrobe Regional Hospital is located in the only regional city in eastern Victoria. Latrobe City consists of many small townships and the main towns of Moe, Morwell and Traralgon.

The area is famous for having one of the largest brown coal reserves in the world, and being the epicentre of Victoria’s electricity industry. But it’s also recognised for its large forestry industry, servicing Australia’s biggest pulp and paper mill. Food processing, engineering, education, retail and aviation also figure prominently.

Gippsland Radiation Oncology is situated at the Latrobe Regional Health site in Traralgon, Latrobe Valley.

The Role

Permanent Full time role for a Grade 5 Radiation Therapist located at Gippsland Radiation Oncology. The successful candidate will be responsible for the organisation and management of the radiation therapy treatment and planning sections at Alfred Radiation Oncology, and as members of the Senior RT group, liaise closely with senior RTs at Alfred Radiation Oncology, and contribute to the service's overall strategic directions and objectives. Experience and Qualifications Required

  • Experience, skills and knowledge base in radiation therapy practice and team organisation and supervision commensurate with senior radiation therapist responsibilities
  • Well-developed time management skills and an ability to manage both personal and section workload efficiently, effectively and safely
  • Awareness of quality and safety issues
  • Engagement with continuing professional development
  • Experience in team supervision and leadership in a multidisciplinary environment
