About the Team

Neurology has long been recognised as one of the major clinical and research strengths of Alfred Health. Core activities of the department include:
The Neurology Unit at The Alfred is recognised as one of the premier clinical neurology departments. There are specialist clinics (and consultants with particular expertise) in Movement Disorders, Neuropathy, Headache, Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmunology, Epilepsy, Stroke and Neurogenetics. There is an active Neurophysiology Department providing EEG, EMG, Evoked potential studies and Tremor analysis and a strong neuropsychology service.

About the Role

The MSNI/CAR-T cell research admin officer provides an opportunity to join a dynamic team of MSNI and Neuroimmunology clinicians, nurses, and admin officers focused on supporting the clients and services of Alfred Health who receive CAR-T cell therapy. The post holder will work closely with the research and admin teams from MSNI and haematology, with the clinical nursing teams from both departments and clinicians from MSNI and haematology. They will report directly to the MSNI Admin and Research coordinators and A/Prof Mastura Monif. This position is for 4 days a week, with some opportunity for flexibility in hours.  A 12-month contract with the view to further extension is being offered. 
The primary responsibility of the MSNI/CAR-T cell research admin Officer is to support all of the research and selected operational services of the MSNI/CAR-T cell Program.  This includes liaising with the research teams of MSNI, Alfred Haematology, Monash University and external stakeholders. The appointee will be required to maintain a comprehensive database and manage the research administration for the CAR-T cell program. 
The appointee will be required to provide clerical assistance to the Deputy Director of MSNI as well as other clerical and administrative duties as directed by the MSNI admin and research coordinators. 

Duties

  • Provide clerical support to the Director, MSNI Unit and Admin coordinator such as scheduling meetings, drafting responses to queries and other duties. 
  • Assist with ethics and governance submissions and drafting of responses to ethics team. 
  • Assist with formulation and maintenance of RedCap databases that capture a variety of inpatient and outpatient clinical and research data
  • Provide clerical support to the CART team which includes MSNI admin team, haematology nursing staff, MSNI fellows and consultants including scheduling of research visits, billing support and queries, and audit requirements 
  • Assist with biological sample logging and cataloguing

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Relevant qualifications in administrative work / research 
  • Proficiency in creation and maintenance of Redcap database
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills 
  • Strong and proven time management skills 
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and show initiative 
  • Have good working knowledge of MSExcel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook 
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a diverse team environment. 

Desirable 

  • Experience in clinical research and trials, specifically in neurology. 
  • Experience in administrative management and documentation of research trials 
  • Knowledge of common trial databases: iMedidata, Firecrest, etc.
