The Department
Alfred Care Group's Dietetics and Nutrition Department provides an integrated nutrition and dietetic service at The Alfred, Sandringham and Caulfield Hospitals. The joint Dietetics and Nutrition Department is comprised of approximately 48EFT and 70 staff members. It is organised into eight clinical streams and provides a 7-day service. Using evidence-based, patient-centred care it provides clinical expertise to Alfred Health’s patients during their healthcare journey, including the prevention and treatment of malnutrition and the optimisation of nutritional wellbeing and recovery through tailored, specialised nutrition therapy.
Position Summary
An exciting opportunity is available for an enthusiastic and motivated Nutrition Assistant (NA) to join Alfred Care Group's Dietetics and Nutrition Department. Working in conjunction with Dietitians, the NA will help to improve patient experience and outcomes by supporting the provision of nutrition to patients, families and carers at Alfred Care Group campuses. The NA will support various clinical interventions designed to provide timely access to high-quality nutritional care. This role also includes the provision of administration support, helping ensure that department tasks are managed in an appropriate, timely and efficient manner.
Skills and Qualifications Required
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance or equivalent qualification (including a higher qualification in Nutrition/Health Sciences/Biological or Chemical Sciences/Food Science/Food Technology or similar).
- Previous experience working in a healthcare setting and/or a Nutrition and Dietetics Department.
- Grade 3 applicants must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience (full-time equivalent) as a Grade 2 Allied Health Assistant or Therapy Assistant.
- Excellent communication skills, proficiency in nutrition education and basic computer skills.
