The department:
The Alfred Health Speech Pathology Department consists of The Alfred, Caulfield Hospital and Sandringham Hospital. The Alfred Speech Pathology Department provides a service to all Alfred in-patients and a limited specialised outpatient service.
The role
- To provide a high quality speech pathology service to all inpatients in the Acute clinical setting at Alfred Health.
- To provide high quality speech pathology services related to the assessment and management of patients with communication and/or swallowing disorders.
- To contribute to the management of the Speech Pathology Department through participation in professional development and ongoing quality activities
Experience and Qualifications Required:
Essential:
- Proven clinical experience, in either the Acute Care environment or SubAcute care, preferably with videofluoroscopic assessment
- Ability to demonstrate a strong theoretical knowledge base in the areas of expertise.
- An understanding of quality management and its application in health care.
Desireable:
- Experience in supervision and professional development of support staff and speech pathology students.
- Demonstrated ability to manage statistical data, including measuring outcomes and processes.
