About us

The Central Sterilising Service (CSS) is an integral part of Alfred Health, providing a service to The Main Alfred Hospital Operating Suite and The Alfred Centre Operating Suite and also to the wards and other departments.

About the role

An exciting opportunity is available for permanent part‑time positions as Instrument Technicians, primarily based at The Alfred Hospital. Instrument Technicians work across a variety of shifts and are responsible for the full processing cycle of surgical instruments, from decontamination through to issuing sterile instruments and equipment used across all areas of the hospital.

About you

  • Prior experience in CSS is necessary though not essential. You will be provided on the job training and support to develop your career.
  • We offer the opportunity to enrol in a Certificate IV in Sterilisation if you have Certificate III currently.

To succeed in this position, you will need:

  • Strong communication skills, including fluent written and verbal.
  • The ability to learn new processes and tasks quickly and accurately.
  • Flexibility and availability to work a rotating roster across 24/7 operations.
  • Demonstrated reliability and adaptability in previous employment.
  • A minimum of Certificate III in Sterilisation - please provide evidence with your application.
