The DepartmentThe Alfred Neuro-ophthalmology service is the second largest service in Victoria.  The service delivers a specialised Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension and General Neuro-ophthalmology clinic.  The service is supported by five neuro-ophthalmologists, orthoptists, a bariatric endocrinologist and a dietician. Dedicated research programs are delivered alongside clinical care. 

The role

Applications are invited for a Specialist in Neurology - Neuro-ophthalmology (Fractional) commencing from April 2026.
This position is for 7 hours per week, which includes:

  • Attending the weekly Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension Clinic
  • Attending the weekly Neuro-ophthalmology Clinic 
  • Participating in teaching and research 
  • Participating and supporting in-patient consultations

Appointees must be legally qualified practitioners, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and hold Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or Ophthalmologists. Demonstrable relevant knowledge and experience in Neurology (specifically MS and Neuroimmunology OR Neuro-ophthalmology) is required as well as meeting Alfred Care Group requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in Neurology.
