Department

The Safety & Wellbeing team sits within People & Culture and provides specialist advice, systems and support across Alfred Care Group. The team works closely with leaders, managers, Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) and employees to meet legislative obligations and promote a safe, healthy and inclusive workplace.

The team delivers expert services across occupational health and safety, injury management, wellbeing, training and occupational violence prevention, contributing to a strong and proactive safety culture across clinical and non‑clinical environments.

Position

The Health, Safety & Injury Management Advisor provides professional health and safety, injury management and wellbeing advice and support to pathology portfolio across the Alfred and Western Health sites

This role partners closely with leaders, managers and employees to:

  • Prevent workplace injury and illness
  • Support early intervention and return‑to‑work outcomes
  • Strengthen safety capability and accountability
  • Embed legislative compliance and continuous improvement

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary Safety & Wellbeing team, contributing to integrated and practical safety solutions within a complex healthcare environment.

Experience and Qualifications Required

  • A Cert IV/Diploma in in Occupational Health and Safety, Injury Management or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience providing health and safety and/or injury management advice in a healthcare or complex operational environment.
  • Sound knowledge of Victorian OHS, worker compensation and return to work legislation.
  • Experience supporting incident reporting, investigations and corrective actions.
  • Strong coaching abilities, stakeholder management, problem solving skilss and proficiency in Office 365 and incident reporting software (Riskman)
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy and understanding importance of excellent record keeping standards and safety KPIs.
  • High level written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence and the ability to travel between The Alfred and Western Health worksites as required.

Desirable

  • Experience in pathology, laboratory or other high-risk healthcare environments.
  • Experience in Workplace Training and/ or a Cert IV in Training and Assessment.
  • ICAM trained
  • Experience analysing safety and injury data to inform prevention strategies
