Department Information

The Melbourne Sexual Health Centre

Melbourne Sexual Health Centre (MSHC), a specialised unit for the diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections, (STIs), is located in Carlton. It part of the Cancer and Medical Specialties Directorate of Alfred Health. It has an established reputation for clinical excellence and innovation through its research. MSHC provides screening, testing, counselling, information, referral, health education and clinical management of STIs, including HIV/AIDS and hepatitis C. It is reputed as a leader in sexual health with an ongoing active focus on postgraduate training and education, clinical consultancy and research. The staff of approximately 70 includes Infrastructure support, Counsellors, Doctors, Nurses, Researchers and postgraduate students.

Position Summary

Data Analyst and Applications Support This position performs a specialised data management role in formulating data queries and data extraction from clinical and other databases at Melbourne Sexual Health Centre to support clinical research and strategic operational decisions. This position will also develop new databases as necessary for research and project purposes. In addition, this position provides day-to-day technical support to MSHC staff, supports the Digital Health and Technology Manager (MSHC) in maintaining network and systems availability and resolving ICT incidents to resolution, and works to contribute to the achievement of organisational ICT strategic goals and project outcomes.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Recognised Industry Certifications or relevant work experience
  • Bachelor’s in computer science or Degree in Software
  • Development Experience/knowledge in developing SQL queries with any relational database management systems (RDMS) and/or writing applications in any programming language such as Java, C++, C#, VB.NET, Delphi, Python
  • Understanding and use of web-based application development languages and tools
