Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery, improvement, research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services. On 1 January 2026, Alfred Health will come together with Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service to create Bayside Health, a newly merged health service with more than 22,000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians. The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce, providing new training, education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

The Department
Alfred Mental and Addiction Health (AMAH) provides specialist psychiatric clinical care to people with severe mental illness. The program has a primary responsibility for residents of inner South-eastern metropolitan Melbourne but cares for all patients seeking its services.

The Role
Are you passionate about supporting better mental health outcomes and keen to develop your skills in health information management? Join our team as a Mental Health Act Information Officer, where you’ll play a vital role in supporting the smooth operation of Mental Health Tribunal Hearings and ensuring accurate, high-quality information management across AMAH.
In this dynamic role, you’ll:
- Provide key assistance to the Mental Health Tribunal Coordinator, including coverage during busy periods and leave.
- Coordinate and schedule Mental Health Tribunal Hearings, ensuring timely access to essential documentation for all parties.
- Collaborate with the Mental Health Information Management and Data Team to enhance data accuracy, streamline administrative processes, and contribute to continuous improvement across the service.
This position offers an excellent opportunity for Health Information Management students or graduates to gain hands-on experience in a real-world healthcare setting while making a meaningful contribution to mental health care delivery.
