This is an exciting opportunity for Physiotherapists interested to ambulatory care to people with MS and Neuroimmunological conditions in a multidisciplinary team environment.  

Applications are invited for the position of Senior Physiotherapist MS and Neuroimmunology (MSNI) Service, Department of Neurology, Alfred Health.

The Departments

Neurology has long been recognised as one of the major clinical and research strengths of Alfred Health. The MSNI Service forms part of the Department of Neurology and provides two clinics a week, one at Caulfield Hospital and one at Alfred Hospital.   The service is supported by eight MS and Neuroimmunology Neurologists and four MSNI fellows, an MSNI nurse consultant and three research nurses.  The existing allied health team includes a senior physiotherapist, dietician, psychologist and neuropsychologist. 

The Role

This position will be responsible for the provision of high quality clinical services to ambulatory clients with MS and Neuroimmunological conditions living in the community. The physiotherapist will see clients with MS and/or Neuroimmunological conditions during the Sandringham Neurology/MS and Neuroimmunology Clinic on Tuesday afternoons.  The appointee will be required to attend MSNI multidisciplinary meetings on Wednesday mornings.   Full details in the position description.


  • Good theoretical knowledge and clinical expertise in Neurological Physiotherapy and aware of current clinical trends
  • Sound knowledge and skills in ambulatory rehabilitation, treatment techniques and outcome measures.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to facilitate change processes in service provision.
  • Experience providing outpatient or community based rehabilitation
  • Experience working within relevant public healthcare settings
  • Experience or willingness to develop skills in NDIS administration and requirements
