Classification: Allied Health Professional Grade 3 (Physiotherapy, Psychology, Nutrition, Social Work, Speech Pathology)

Working across acute and critical care wards and programs at The Alfred

 

The Department 
Allied Health is comprised of ten therapy and science disciplines, working across acute, rehabilitation/aged care, mental health and community/ambulatory care services. The Allied Health Professional Practice Framework underpins the work of Allied Health at Alfred Health in contributing to Alfred Health’s purpose.

 

The Role

The Allied Health Educator positions are aligned to time-limited Victorian Department of Health Covid-19 Interdisciplinary Training for Allied Health funding, and are responsible for upskilling, inducting, integrating and providing on-the-job support for within-scope discipline, and multidisciplinary team-based care in critical and acute care at Alfred Health. In collaboration with members of the multi-disciplinary team, a primary role of the position is to identify, deliver and evaluate a range of educational activities and resources. Depending on discipline background the educator may also provide reflective practice opportunities across the team and work in collaboration with existing peer support and other staff support initiatives.

 

The Allied Health Educator will work with the Allied Health Education Lead to design, develop, implement and evaluate training and education resources aligned to contemporary education principles. The overall aim of these resources is to upskill the allied health workforce to supplement the acute and critical care nursing workforces.

 

Qualifications/Experience Required**

  • Registration under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (Victoria) Act 2009  (where appropriate) or accreditation with relevant self-regulating professional body
  • Applied knowledge of multi-modal education design, implementation and evaluation of single discipline or interprofessional education models
  • Allied Health qualification (at least 5 years’ experience), with eligibility for membership of relevant Allied Health professional body
  • Experience in leading change initiatives and/ or project management
  • Sound knowledge of the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards

 

**Psychologists, in addition to the above, must have:
• Endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (Victoria) Act 2009
• Masters or Doctorate in Clinical Psychology/Health Psychology
• At least 5 (8-10 years if P4) years’ experience working as a Clinical psychologist
• Approved supervisor status with AHPRA
