Lead Clinical Pharmacist Mental and Addiction Health Services

  • Full-Time - 80 hours per fortnight plus ADO
  • Permanent Contract
  • Grade 4 

THE DEPARTMENT
The Pharmacy Department works closely with patients, their family and other health services to provide high level pharmaceutical care. Our departments' priorities are to provide information on medication safety, cost-effective use of medication for patients and deliver specialised pharmacy expertise at important points of a patient's recovery or treatment process. The Pharmacy Department at Alfred Health is a dynamic and innovative service at the forefront of clinical practice. 
THE ROLE
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated pharmacist with experience in providing clinical pharmacy services across a spectrum of mental health services.  You will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary programme to achieve the best medication management outcomes for individual patients, and will lead co-ordinate and develop the clinical pharmacy services of the Alfred Health Pharmacy Service to Mental and Addiction Health Services.  
The newly created position is responsible for the development and delivery of clinical pharmacy services across the Mental and Addiction Health Services Programme. This includes a number of services from child and adolescent services through to older age adults, and specialist services such as the Southcity specialist addiction service, and the Forensic Clinical Specialist Programme. Statebased services include both State-wide Problem Gambling & Mental Health Program, the Psychotropic Drug Advisory Service and the Statewide Psychiatry Intensive Care Service. 
Many services are provided through comprehensive structured outpatient and community based programs that focus on enhancing the mental health, independence and overall well-being of people residing in the community. 
The Lead Clinical Pharmacist, Mental and Addiction Health Services will provide strong strategic leadership and direction, and will also provide direct clinical services to the Mental and Addiction Health Services team. 
Research is an essential part of pharmacy services at Alfred Health. The post holder would also be expected to contribute to the research and educational activities of the Mental and Addiction Health Services Programme as well as pursue their own programme of research.
YOUR SKILLS

  • Ability to demonstrate leadership and decision making skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge in pharmacotherapeutics in psychotropic medicine, including acute psychiatry, child and adolescent services and older age mental health services, addiction and substance misuse services
  • Communicates regularly with pharmacists outside the organisation through active participation in the affairs of pharmacy professional organisations.
  • Ability to search and analyse medical and paramedical literature

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Registered pharmacist with AHPRA
  • Relevant clinical post-graduate qualification such as Masters in Clinical Pharmacy Practice or equivalent 
  • Completion of a specialist qualification, or completion or progression towards a PhD highly desirable
  • Credentialed or a portfolio that demonstrates progression towards credentialing as Advanced (Level 2 or 3) on the Australian Advanced Level Framework highly desirable
