We have more than 15 main sites, including hospitals, centres and clinics that provide comprehensive care from welcoming newborns to supporting older people and a full range of services in between.

The Greenhouse is an acute inpatient assessment unit at the Alfred Hospital which consists of 15 beds and is staffed on an interdisciplinary model with 24-hour nursing care. As it is a unit treating patients with acute conditions there is an expectation that patients will be discharged to their original address or other more appropriate environments as soon as they are ready for discharge. Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) sessions are usually conducted on Mondays and Fridays as required.

About the Role

The Grade 2 Occupational Therapist at The Greenhouse will work as part of the acute aged mental health multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality, evidence-based care for older people admitted into the service. The role focuses on delivering individual assessments and interventions as well as group-based interventions, coordinating therapeutic programs, and supporting consumers and the team with discharge planning. This position plays a key role in promoting engagement, recovery, and safe transitions back to the community.

Skills & Experience

• Current registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia via AHPRA to practice with the National Board.
• Demonstrated experience in mental health, preferably aged care.
• Completion of a Graduate program is desirable
