About the Department

Alfred Health and Monash Health have established a formal partnership to deliver a Shared Pathology Service as one of three new pathology networks for metropolitan Melbourne. In the Partnership, pathology services are provided from two main laboratories (The Alfred in Prahran and Monash Medical Centre in Clayton), and six branch laboratories (Casey Hospital, Dandenong Hospital, Moorabbin Hospital, Sandringham Hospital, Victorian Heart Hospital and Wonthaggi Hospital). In addition, there are 23 collection centres and rooms spread across South East Melbourne and South Gippsland, with the furthest one located in Yarram.

About the Role

The Shared Pathology Corporate Services Manager is a newly created role to work with the Shared Pathology Executive to deliver priority strategic activities and operational alignment to support the development and design for the Shared Pathology Service. 

The Corporate Services Manager will collaborate with stakeholders in Alfred and Monash Health pathology services and other departments to seek innovative solutions to complex operational matters in both organisations. These matters include, but are not limited to, financial management, internal operational projects aligning services, contract, procurement and vendor management, revenue generation and growth, and procurement and supply chains.

This role will be integral in setting the behavioural framework and culture of the Service.  It is responsible for maintaining the high-quality services currently provided and for identifying and implementing new services and changes in service delivery.  Scientific and administrative employees will report to this role, with professional reporting lines remaining within appropriate clinical lines.

About You

  • To be successful within the role, you will have high level financial management skills with the ability to develop financial control systems, budget guidelines and reporting mechanisms.
  • You have demonstrated analytical skills in interpreting service needs, understanding legislative and governance arrangements, assessing local requirements and evaluating the achievability of the desired results.  You are committed to financial sustainability and quality and safety, and have developed strategies to address service growth.
  • You will have functional qualifications knowledge and/or experience spanning several disciplines in a Pathology setting.
  • You have the capacity to adapt service delivery in a complex and changing environment and to deliver continuous improvement and innovative service outcomes.
  • You have experience in organisational change and project management.

Other Requirements (Monash Health)

  • As we support a culture of safety through employee immunisation, there must be documentation provided confirming completed immunisation status
  • Current and satisfactory Police Check (must also comply with Aged Care Act 1997 Accountability Amendment Principles 2012 if working in Aged Care setting)
  • Current and satisfactory Employee Working with Children Check.
  • Applicants who are new to Monash Health will be required to enter into an Employment Agreement before commencement
  • All candidates will require Australian working rights.
