As per the new National Framework for Pre-Vocational Trainees (NFPMT), the PGY2 program at Alfred Health is designed to provide you with the generalist experience and foundational skills.
The PGY2 program will offer you the exposure to clinical care of patients in each of the following clinical experiences:
A. Undifferentiated illness patient care
B. Chronic illness patient care
C. Acute and critical illness patient care
We are able, within this framework, to provide rotations for PGY2s who are surgically inclined that will provide the exposure and procedural skills necessary to advance their careers in subsequent years.We offer training opportunities in all of the surgical specialties and provide rotations which are accredited by the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (RACS).
Our prevocational program aims to optimise trainees for entrance into the RACS surgical training program. Support with curriculum vitae optimisation, research opportunities, obtaining supportive references and interview practice are services offered as part of the program. All trainees have allocated weekly protected training time and are expected to attend the weekly in hours educational lecture series.
