Department

The Clinical Research Unit conducts a large number of clinical trials for each of these groups and their diverse patient cohorts. The CRU works on trials sponsored by commercial companies, as well as collaborative group studies and Investigator-initiated trials. The Unit maintains close links with several pre-clinical research laboratory teams associated with leukaemia, myeloproliferative disorders, stem cell biology and myeloma, and provides support by collecting, processing and storing suitable specimens for research.

Position Summary

The Manager of the CRU will:

  • Provide leadership, project management and program oversight
  • Maintain the capacity of the CRU to provide clinical trial treatment to haematology patients across several discipline streams at the Alfred.
  • Maintain processes to ensure trial patient safety
  • Meet the data delivery requirements of all studies
  • Ensure the laboratory support for clinical trials and for primary research teams
  • Provide financial accountability for the CRU

Qualfications and Experience Required

Essential

  • Health or science undergraduate degree
  • Excellent working knowledge of the regulatory environment and TGA and ICH GCP guidelines
  • Comprehensive knowledge of haematology
  • Clinical trials experience
  • Demonstrable leadership and experience managing a team
  • Hospital experience

Desirable

  • Post graduate qualification
