     Single Quality Management System (QMS) Implementation Project Officer

  • Fixed term position until July 2025
  • Part Time  at 64 hours per fortnight

The Department

Alfred Health and Monash Health have established a formal partnership to deliver a Shared Pathology Service as one of three new pathology networks for metropolitan Melbourne.

All roles in the Pathology Programs are working to develop the Partnership across the Health Services to ensure we continue to provide high quality care for the patients across the health services.

Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery, improvement, research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, from ambulatory, to inpatient and home and community-based services. Alfred Pathology Service (APS) provides a comprehensive range of pathology testing, consultation services and collection services to clinicians and patients of Alfred Health. The Service has 5 units (Anatomical Pathology, Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology, Microbiology and Human Molecular Pathology), each headed by a Unit Head. APS has the core laboratory at The Alfred as well as a small local laboratory at Sandringham Hospital.

The Role

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Quality Management System (QMS) Implementation Project Officer who will be responsible for the successful implementation of a Single Quality Management system for the Shared Pathology service for Alfred and Monash Health. Currently, there are two independent functioning Quality Management systems, with individualised policies and procedures used in the two services. The procured single QMS is a cloud-based solution and will be designed and structured to support a future state that will foresee the partnership model transition to a single pathology entity.

Experience and Qualifications Required

Essential

  • Bachelor of Science or Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent
  • At least 5 years’ experience in senior leadership and operational experience in a diagnostic pathology laboratory setting.
  • Extensive experience in using all functionality of a QMS software program.
  • Previous experience in managing and/or implementing a Quality Management System is highly considered.
  • Significant experience in project management, especially with planning and implementation of QMS software.
  • Experience in change management.
  • Project management experience in the health care setting.
  • Experience with Q-Pulse (Ideagen) would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrated experience in translating laboratory or clinical processes into design or functionality to meet business requirements.

  • Ability to quickly build and maintain positive relationships with team members and stakeholders. 
  • Experience managing and providing leadership to projects. 
  • The ability to motivate and focus a team and to foster collaboration among team members. 
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable, especially in a changing environment 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of quality management in a pathology environment including accreditation requirements;
  • Competent at using a wide range of information and communication technologies relevant to the role including quality management systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Excellent management and organisational skills.
