Referral In Team Leader- Outpatient Program

About the role

In this role, the Referral In Team Lead will lead a dedicated team of multi-skilled administrative support staff, ensuring the effective day to day operations of the referrals, communications and patient portal teams, ensuring high-quality service delivery. The role will also support the wellbeing and professional development of team members and work collaboratively with fellow members of the management team to develop and implement policies and strategies that enhance and support quality service provision for staff, clinicians, patients and their families.

About the department

The Referral In team is responsible for receiving and processing requests for outpatient reviews from within the hospital as well as processing external requests from external health care providers. The team is often the first contact the public will have with Alfred Health and operates the phone enquiries centre for the Outpatient Program.

About you 

  • Proven experience as a Team Leader or similar role in the healthcare industry.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of clinical records systems and other healthcare specific Information Technology systems.
  • Attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • Previous experience in managing and leading a large team of administrative staff.
  • Previous experience in developing and delivering training and education.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated planning and organisational skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement activities and a strong capacity to lead staff in major change as it relates to systems, space or other organisational change.
