The Department

The Allied Health Professional Practice Framework underpins the work of Allied Health at Alfred Health in contributing to Alfred Health’s purpose. The Orthoptists play an integral role in providing clinical support to the Ophthalmology, and Neuro Ophthalmology services, operating in close physical and functional association with the Units. Assessment and management are provided for chronic ocular disease, ocular motility disorders, visual field and colour analysis and biophysical measurements.

 

The Position Summary

As an orthoptist, you will provide an exceptional level of service to the outpatient clinic and services. You will have a strong focus on patient-centred care and the ability to liaise with a variety of stakeholders. You will provide an exceptional level of service in Orthoptics, within the Ophthalmology and Neuro-Ophthalmology outpatient clinical settings, at Alfred Health.

 

Skills and Qualifications Required 

  • Bachelor of Orthoptics or equivalent
  • Bachelor of Orthoptics & Ophthalmic Science (or equivalent)
  • Registered Member with the Australian Orthoptic Board (AOB)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skills in orthotics and ophthalmic assessment
  • Registration with the Orthoptic Association of Australia (OAA) is desirable
