THE DEPARTMENT

Alfred Health Community Rehabilitation Program provides Home and Centre Based rehabilitation as well as the Falls Clinic services. The service's focus is on the provision of goal-directed, community-based rehabilitation for clients following injury or hospitalisation. The Community Rehabilitation multidisciplinary team comprises physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, dietitians, neuropsychologist, psychologist, allied health assistants, rehabilitation medicine doctor, registered nurse and social workers.

POSITION

We have an exciting opportunity for an Senior Occupational Therapist to join our Community Rehabilitation team. 

  • A major focus of this position will be to provide professional leadership to the Occupational Therapy staff working within the Community Rehabilitation Program, including involvement with service development and quality improvement.
  • The position involves the provision of treatment programs where the clinical caseload is varied and may include neurological, orthopaedic, cardiac, spinal, pulmonary and functional decline diagnoses. 
  •  As a Senior Occupational Therapist within the Community Rehabilitation programs, you will provide goal-directed client-centred rehabilitation services to clients.
  • Along with the clinical responsibilities, you will also provide supervision to OT and AHA staff and students.

 

KEY CAPABILITIES

  • Minimum seven years of clinical experience (including in outpatient or community-based rehabilitation).
  • Strong clinical knowledge and skills in ambulatory rehabilitation, treatment techniques and outcome measures.
  • Demonstrated previous expertise in leadership of health services.
  • Well-developed leadership skills, including demonstrated experience in supervision of staff and ability to undertake performance management.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated skills in the evaluation and implementation of evidence-based practice and modification of service delivery.
  • Prior involvement in leading quality improvement initiatives.
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills to promote teamwork, and a proven ability to resolve conflict and relate effectively to people at all levels of the organisation.
  • Sound skills in organisation, planning and priority setting.
