Alfred Health

We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services. On 1 January 2026, Alfred Health will come together with Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service to create Bayside Health, a newly merged health service with more than 22,000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians. The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce, providing new training, education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

The Department

The Malignant Haematology, Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Services (MHTCTS) at The Alfred collects, processes and cryopreserves cells for transplants, as part of the care for patients with haematological diseases including leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma and related disorders. We also continue to expand our cellular therapeutic capabilities as a standard-of-care and clinical trial site for CAR-T therapies. The unit also collect cells from unrelated donors on behalf of Stem Cell Donors Australia for bone marrow transplants in patients in Australia and around the world. 

The Role

The Malignant Haematology, Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Services (MHTCTS) at The Alfred is seeking a Quality Officer to facilitate the continuous improvement of quality systems and maintain regulatory requirements. This is an exciting opportunity to join the evolving field of cellular therapies as a member of the Alfred Cancer team.

Qualifications and Experience Required

The successful applicant will have: 

  • Tertiary qualifications in a health-related discipline, ideally with further studies in Quality Management.
  • Demonstrated experience applying quality improvement, change control and risk management principles under the framework of a Quality Management System.
  • Internal auditor experience, with appropriate accreditation.
  • Demonstrated experience configuring and maintaining electronic quality management systems in a transplantation or cellular therapy environment.
  • Experience with NATA, FACT/JACIE standards and best quality practices in cellular therapy.
