THE DEPARTMENT
Alfred Cancer
The Alfred Cancer program governs the delivery of comprehensive cancer care across Alfred Health, providing clinical care for patients affected by cancer, blood disorders and at the end of life. Alfred Cancer comprises service units providing clinical and research excellence in the fields of medical oncology, radiation oncology, haematology, bone marrow transplant, haemophilia, melanoma and palliative care. The program provides quality clinical care for our local catchment and to all Victorians through our state-wide melanoma, haematology and haemophilia services.
Alfred Cancer Specialty Clinics
The Alfred Cancer Specialty Consulting Clinics provide scheduled medical, nursing and allied health services to patients. Approximately 6200 appointments were scheduled for cancer patients across 2022 for malignant and non-malignant haematology, medical oncology, radiation oncology and the Victorian Melanoma Service.
THE ROLE
Every Alfred Health nurse must practice in accordance with the Alfred Health Nursing Professional Practice Framework.
The Professional Practice Framework defines the elements of nursing practice that improve the care and experience of our patients and aligns with the Patient’s Come First Strategy.
It is comprised of five domains that are crucial to maintain standards, lead change and add value to healthcare. These domains are Care, Leadership, Professional Development, Workforce, Research and Informatics.
The Associate Nurse Manager (ANUM) is a member of the nursing leadership team within the Outpatient Program. They assist the Nurse Manager to provide clinical support and management on the site, assisting with operationalisation of the core values of the organisation.
The ANUM has oversight of the efficient running of clinics and to develop and maintain a close working relationship with key stakeholders. The ANUM is responsible for patient and clinic flow, ensuring timely, quality care is achieved, while upholding Alfred Health’s standards and values. This role supports excellence in clinical practice and promotes the development of nurses, ensuring the philosophy of nursing and standards of practice are consistently reflected in professional practice and patient care.
There is an expectation that the ANUM will support the Outpatient Nurse Manager in managing clinical risk in the local area and implementing systems and processes to improve patient outcomes.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Registered as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA.
- Relevant post-graduate diploma or working toward same.
- Recent acute clinical or ambulatory care nursing background in a relevant health service
- Current and satisfactory Police Check
- Current and satisfactory Working With Children Check
