Dermatology Research Nurse Co-ordinator 

 

  • Part Time Fixed Term opportunity working up to 64 hours per fortnight

The Department 

The Alfred Dermatology Department is the tertiary referral centre for South-Eastern Melbourne and rural Victoria.  

Our unit manages severe cutaneous adverse reactions, inflammatory and autoimmune skin disease and non-melanoma skin cancers – providing multiple outpatient clinics per week. Research in this unit is growing and has over 30 clinical trials for various skin conditions. This allows our unit to offer treatment options otherwise unavailable for patients with serious chronic skin conditions and is helping to shape future treatments in Dermatology.   

The team includes the Director of Dermatology, Prof Johannes Kern, Senior Dermatologist Principal Investigators, Research Nurses, Doctors (Clinical and Trial Fellow) and admin staff.  We work closely with the Victorian Melanoma Service clinical and their research teams.   

Your new role 

  • The Registered Nurse occupying this position will work as part of a team conducting single-centre and multi-centre research. 

  • Our research group collaborates with other centres in Australia and overseas in multi-centre research projects. 

  • Be involved in all aspects of clinical trial activity, including screening and recruitment of participants, efficiently organising patient visits and admissions, taking pathology samples and other necessary investigations as per trial protocol, managing participant databases and preparing relevant Ethics submission and paperwork. 

About you 

  • Highly developed computer-literacy and ability to work with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook 

  • Knowledge of research principles, methodologies and processes 

  • High level of reliability and professional conduct 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 

  • Good knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and how a clinical trial study operates 

  • Developed assessment, clinical reasoning, problem solving and prioritisation skills 

  • Extensive experience in venepuncture 

  • Demonstrated provision of high-quality care
