The Department
The Alfred Dermatology Department is the tertiary referral centre for South-Eastern Melbourne and rural Victoria.
Our unit manages severe cutaneous adverse reactions, inflammatory and autoimmune skin disease and non-melanoma skin cancers – providing multiple outpatient clinics per week. Research in this unit is growing and has over 30 clinical trials for various skin conditions. This allows our unit to offer treatment options otherwise unavailable for patients with serious chronic skin conditions and is helping to shape future treatments in Dermatology.
The team includes the Director of Dermatology, Prof Johannes Kern, Senior Dermatologist Principal Investigators, Research Nurses, Doctors (Clinical and Trial Fellow) and admin staff. We work closely with the Victorian Melanoma Service clinical and their research teams.
