Alfred Care Group Pharmacy is well recognised for high quality and innovative patient- focused services, education and training programmes as well as significant research output. The service operates over 4 sites within Alfred Care Group, and continually advocates for postgraduate learning and research interests, with supportive partnerships and expert mentors available to foster staff development.

 About the Pharmacy Operations Team 

The Pharmacy Operations team comprises both pharmacists and pharmacy technicians and plays a vital role in the delivery of core pharmacy services to both inpatients and outpatients across Alfred Care Group. There are 5 dispensaries located across the group, including an inpatient and outpatient dispensary at Alfred Hospital and a dispensary each at Caulfield Hospital, Sandringham Hospital and Melbourne Sexual Health Centre. The team also runs an aseptic suite and the Clinical Trials service for Alfred Care Group. 

About the Role 

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated senior supervisory pharmacy technician to join the dynamic Operational team at the Alfred Care Group.  

The Senior Supervisory Pharmacy Technician - Inpatients is an integral member of the Operations team, responsible for providing support within the Operational Service. This includes managing the day-to-day operations associated with inpatient pharmacy services across the Alfred Care Group. You will work closely with the Senior Pharmacist – Inpatients to supervise and develop staff working in the area to ensure safe and timely medication supply. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with the broader Operations team to optimise workflows and patient outcomes.

  • Ability to demonstrate leadership and decision making skills
  • Problem-solving and risk assessment abilities and the ability to use initiative
  • Excellent communication, time management skills with the ability to prioritise, plan and organise your work and deliver to deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams 

Qualifications & Experience required 

  • Completed Certificate IV in Health (Hospital Pharmacy Technician) or equivalent
  • Minimum of three years full-time experience as a qualified Pharmacy Technician within hospital desirable
  • Financial management experience is desired, but not essential
  • Experience supervising or training staff desirable
