THE DEPARTMENT:
Ward 5 West is Alfred Health's Trauma and Orthopaedic ward, receiving road, domestic and workplace trauma patients at The Alfred. Operating within the Surgical Services Program, our patients are received from the Emergency & Trauma Centre, Intensive Care and Operating Theatres along with a small portion of elective Orthopaedic admissions. The teams focus is on delivering patient-centred care to our group of complex patients within a supportive environment to promote accountable and safe care. We work together as an interdisciplinary team to deliver excellence in patient experience and surgical care at The Alfred.
THE ROLE:
Ward 5 West is current seeking experienced surgical nurses to join our team!
As an experienced clinical nurse, your practice will lead to excellence in patient care throughout their journey. You understand the importance of establishing a relationship between the patient and yourself in order to achieve the best possible outcomes for your patients. You demonstrate the core nursing values of patient centred care, trust and respect in every interaction with patients, carers and colleagues.
As a Registered Nurse and member of the interdisciplinary team, you will be provided with:
- Education and support at a local ward level and from the Nursing Education team
- Clinical progression through the Trauma and Orthopaedic Learning Journey
- Opportunity to consolidate and acquire new clinical skills
- Exposure to a range of different clinical specialities within a supportive framework
- Opportunity for involvement in ward quality initiatives and career progression
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential requirements:
- Be a motivated individual who enjoys the challenge of working in a fast-paced team environment
- Have a current and unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
- Have a current Working With Children Check
- Be available to work on a rotating roster (mornings, afternoons and nights, weekdays and weekends)
- Have relevant working rights
- Have 3+ years acute nursing experience (YP5+)
Desired skills and experience:
- Previous surgical nursing experience
- Post-graduate qualifications in acute or surgical care will be highly regarded
