THE DEPARTMENT
Engineering & Facilities in concert with Capital Projects are responsible for managing buildings and infrastructure and facilitating new projects according to capital development plans. This work includes site master planning, new capital projects, engineering services and lease management.
THE ROLE
The position is responsible for the management, maintenance and modernisation of building technologies or ‘Built in Technology’ across Alfred Health, inclusive of computerised:
- Building automation systems (BAS)
- Digital network video management systems (CCTV)
- Electronic access control systems (EACS)
- Fire detection and alarm systems (FIP)
- Grid and generator power management systems (SCADA)
- Emergency lighting systems (E&E Lighting)
- Medical gasses monitoring systems
- Uninterruptable power supply systems (UPS)
- Vertical transport systems (Lifts)
- Pathology transport systems (pneumatic chute)
- Digital two-way radio systems
- Remote telemetry systems such as water treatment / dosing / monitoring
- Servers, networks, transports, and other ancillary components forming part of the Engineering Network or “EngNet”
- Cooperation and partnering with Alfred Health’s Digital Health team to ensure comprehensive cybersecurity of internal and external information technology platforms and systems
- Assistance with the preparation of feasibilities associated with future development of Alfred Health sites including participation in the development of associated business cases
- Lifecycle planning, risk management for near end of life assets (hardware and software) and whole of asset condition monitoring
- Oversight and line management of external project managers and external consultant teams
- Co-ordination of engineering issues associated with Capital Construction Projects, as managed by our internal Project Management team and or external resources
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
One or more of the following;
- Specialist on the job training working for a technology provider or systems integrator
- A vocational training trade or technician qualification in complex electrical or electronics or security or building automation systems or other technology or computing industry
- Undergraduate qualifications in a related discipline of electrical engineering or information technology systems (including electronics, networking, or industrial automation)
- Demonstrated industry experience in the engineering and delivery (project management) of complex building systems will be highly regarded
Skills and Experiences
- Proven leadership skills and experience involving the delivery of complex engineering works programs and budgets, including the effective leadership of teams
- Skilled in the selection of procurement methods, managing programs to meet scope and budget requirements within a large and complex environment
- Demonstrated analytical, conceptual, stakeholder management and project management skills
- Understanding of asset management policies and practices as they relate to government capital works projects
- Good communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills including the ability to negotiate independently on sensitive and complex issues within Alfred Health and external agencies
- Track record in planning and project delivery desirable but not mandatory
- Experience in the health care context is desirable but not mandatory
