The Department

Nursing Services provides professional nursing support to nurses working at Alfred Health. Education, research, workforce management, quality, safety and clinical practice development are key components of this service.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Exemplifies and promotes clinical practice in wound management   
  • Identifies opportunities to rationalise the use of wound care products across Alfred Health while maintaining standards of care 
  • Provides consultation to clinical staff for patients with complex wounds where appropriate  across Alfred Health sites as required
  • Evaluates patient care outcomes in relation to wound management 
  • Liaises with clinical nurses, nurse managers, medical and allied health to identify learning needs of staff and to determine priorities for educational programs 
  • Provides leadership for Alfred Health in pressure injury prevention and management
  • Supports quality activities and clinical research to promote knowledge development and evidence-based clinical practice and improved outcomes for patients 
  • Assumes responsibility as a self- directed professional for own continuing education

 

Skills/Qualifications Required

  • Advanced clinical knowledge and skills in Wound Management 
  • Critical thinking skills 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Open, flexible, innovative and risk taking 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other services and departments in the hospital and community
  • Ability and willingness to develop others
  • Commitment to quality activities / research process and application to practice
  • Current registration with AHPRA
  • Post graduate qualification in wound management preferred
  • Current and satisfactory Police Check
  • Current and satisfactory Working With Children Check
