An exciting opportuntiy/secondment has arisen within the PECE team for a staff member who is passionate about patient experience and strengthening systems that support optimal patient outcomes.

About the Department

Patient Experience and Consumer Engagement (PECE) was established to align the existing portfolios:

  • Aboriginal Health
  • Consumer and Community Participation
  • Diversity, including cultural and linguistic diversity (CALD), lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ), disability and other seldom heard groups with potential unmet needs
  • Patient Experience
  • Volunteer Program (The Alfred and Caulfield Hospitals)

PECE strategically supports Alfred Health to implement, monitor and evaluate the Patients Come First (PCF) Strategy. The PCF Strategy is Alfred Health’s ‘road map’ for agreed priorities of care and service to support the best possible experience of care for all our patients, irrespective of their individual preferences, values and expressed needs.

We are seeking a highly organised and motivated person to join Alfred Health’s Patient Experience Consumer Engagement team as the Project Officer supporting Aboriginal Health. This role focuses on advancing key Aboriginal Health priorities across Alfred Health, including the Reconciliation Action Plan, Cultural Safety Plan, and Aboriginal Employment Strategy, contributing to better health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. You will work collaboratively with the Director Patient Experience, Aboriginal health team, clinical teams, and other stakeholders to deliver innnovative solutions and drive meaningful, culturally informed change to the experience for First Nations patients and community.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Undergraduate degree in a health-related field (e.g., Nursing, Allied Health, Public Health) or equivalent experience.
  • Passionate about improving healthcare quality and patient outcomes
  • Experience working with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities and/or other communities who are undeserved and seldom heard.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Organised, proactive, and able to manage dynamic workflows.
  • Knowledge of healthcare systems and trends, particularly within Victoria.
