The National Trauma Research Institute With a mission to improve care of the injured, the National Trauma Research Institute (NTRI) was established in 2003 by partnership institutions Alfred Health and Monash University, Central Clinical School. The NTRI is located with the Alfred Medical Research and Education Precinct (AMREP) at The Alfred campus in Melbourne, Australia and supports the Alfred Trauma Services clinical unit’s education and research activities. The Alfred Trauma Service is the largest and most active Trauma Service in Australasia. The NTRI & Trauma Service works with organisations nationally and internationally to prevent and reduce the impact of severe injury by integrating research, education, medical technology and trauma system development to improve clinical care and outcomes. In early 2016, the NTRI’s activities were linked with those of The Alfred Trauma Service to integrate research with patient outcomes and to improve efficiency. One of the ways we achieve this is through the Alfred Hospital Trauma Registry. The NTRI is also the coordinating entity for the Australian New Zealand Trauma Registry
