Alfred Health is the main provider of health services to people in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne and is a major provider of specialist services to people across Victoria. The Health Service operates three outstanding facilities: The Alfred, Caulfield and Sandringham.
Applications are invited for the position of part time Specialist in Anatomical Pathology based at The Alfred.
As part of the Alfred Pathology Service, the Anatomical Pathology Unit provides high quality diagnostic and consultative services in specialist histopathology and cytopathology. The Unit includes the Victorian Neuromuscular Laboratory service, a Molecular Pathology solid tumour service and pathology reporting to the Victorian Melanoma Service.
Specialist areas in the hospital include - the heart and lung transplantation program, infectious diseases, services.
This position includes active participation in educational and professional development training programs for medical students and registrars. The unit is also involved in and supports a wide range of research activity in association with hospital clinical units and university partnerships. The Unit actively supports ongoing professional development, including within areas of diagnostic interest.
Applicants must be legally qualified practitioners, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, possess a fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (or a postgraduate clinical qualification in Pathology which meets the College's requirements for this position) and appropriate specialist experience. Five years or more postgraduate experience is preferred. Pulmonary and molecular pathology expertise is highly desirable.
Applicants must be prepared to participate in a pathologist on-call roster and after hour’s service.
