  • Nutrition Assistant Position
  • Part-time, Monday-Friday, 32 hrs per week
  • Fixed Term-12 months

The Department.

Nutrition Services are provided at The Alfred, Sandringham and Caulfield Hospital’s. This position is based at our subacute site Caulfield Hospital. The joint Nutrition department is comprised of 38 EFT and approximately 48 people. The department is organised into seven clinical clusters. The Nutrition Department has had a long and valued relationship within the Alfred, with the first dietitian being employed in 1930. The department has a proud history of clinical and academic excellence. The Nutrition department has a strong relationship with Monash and Latrobe University Nutrition Departments and is integral to clinical teaching and training of undergraduate dietitians.

The Role

The Nutrition Department is seeking an Allied Health Assistant to join a busy clinical department. The Alfred Nutrition Department offers nutrition services across The Alfred, Caulfield Hospital and Sandringham Hospital campuses, providing a full range of clinical services. This position is based at Caulfield Hospital supporting the dietitians working with aged care medical and general rehabilitation inpatient servcies.   • Knowledge of nutrition and therapeutic dietetics and its application
  • Effective computer skills and proficient use of MS Office applications as well as maintenance of electronic databases in a hospital environment.
  • Demonstrated initiative and flexibility in approach to service delivery
  • Demonstrated commitment to self-development with continuing education and quality improvement
  • Tertiary qualification is essential, ideally in related field (e.g. Science, Health Science, Nutrition, Food Science)
