The Department

Alfred Health’s Nutrition Department is seeking an outstanding senior clinical dietitian to work in Gastroenterology.


Alfred Health’s Department of Gastroenterology provides a comprehensive range of services for the management of patients with all types of gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary and pancreatic diseases. The Department also conducts a number of subspecialty clinics with dietetic input including inflammatory bowel disease, functional gut disorders, and liver disease; specifically NALFD. It also has an active research portfolio including a Translational Nutritional Science Group which studies diet as therapy in chronic intestinal disorders.

The Role

The Grade 3 Gastroenterology Dietitian will form part of a team of dietitians integrated into a multidisciplinary model of care to provide clinical nutrition services to the Gastroenterology service Unit.  This includes both inpatients and outpatient services.

The Grade 3 Dietitian is also responsible for the education of nutrition and dietetic students and the supervision and professional development of junior nutrition staff assigned to them.

Clinical expertise in the nutritional management of gut disorders, strong leadership skills and a proven track record of co-ordination and implementation of quality initiatives in clinical nutrition are key aspects of this role. The Nutrition Department has a proud history of research and and there is opportunity to participate and/or undertake research projects.



  • Clinical nutrition expertise in gastroenterology including inflammatory bowel disease and functional gut disorders.
  • Excellence in clinical care, leadership and communication skills
  • Experience of continuous quality improvement and service development
  • At Least 7 years post-graduate experience
  • Eligibility for membership of DAA and APD credentialed is essential
  • Post graduate qualification or be progressing toward one
