Research Officer - Registry Science and Research

  • Full time (76 hours per fortnight) 
  • 12 month contract
  • HS3
  • Based at 553 St Kilda Road
  • Be a part of the Monash and Alfred research program

 

THE ROLE

The Research Officer provides a variety of high-quality research services to support the operations of the Registry Science and Research Unit in the School of Public Health (SPHPM). This includes academic activities (literature reviews, qualitative research, research administration including ethics and governance activities, and grant writing), and project management activities (project planning and coordination, policy and procedure development and engagement of internal and external staff). This position will assist the Head of Unit to develop and provide registry information and support across SPHPM registries, as well as specific registry project support. In particular, the position will facilitate the establishment of clinical trial activity in conjunction with mature registries within the Unit.

Knowledge and Skills

  1. The appointee will have:  a degree in a health or science related field with subsequent relevant experience, or extensive experience and specialist expertise in registries and/or clinical trials/health datasets or broad knowledge in project management and policy fields, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
  1. High-level analytical, technical, data analysis and research skills
  2. Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to set priorities, and plan work to meet deadlines
  3. Excellent project coordination skills with the ability to support projects through to completion
  4. Demonstrated ability to work as an effective member of a team
  5. Proven ability to adhere to protocols, standards and guidelines, including a thorough understanding of confidentiality, privacy and research ethics principles as required
  6. Highly‑developed written and verbal communication skills
  7. Experience with advanced technologies including equipment and software
  8. Experience in governance and management of health data
  9. Experience in collaborative projects and stakeholder engagement.
