17 RACP accredited positions (including one Principal Registrar position)
The General Medical Unit at The Alfred is a dynamic well supported unit with an education and research focus. These highly regarded positions provide experience in the care of patients with multi-system diseases, peri-operative experience in Surgery and Trauma Medicine, MET call experience, inpatient care, including acute care and undifferentiated patient management experience, afterhours clinical leadership experience and complex ambulatory care experience, under the supervision of senior clinicians many with sub-specialty interests.
Sub-specialty positions (six-monthly rotations) include two positions in Respiratory Medicine (Alfred), two in Intensive Care Medicine (Cabrini), one in Cardiology (Alfred), one in Neurology and Endocrine combined rotation (Alfred), and one in Cardiology (Mildura), with experience in electrocardiography, stress-tests and echocardiography reporting.
General Medicine or General medical-type positions (six-monthly rotations) include five Advance Training registrar positions in General Medicine (Alfred), two peri-operative and trauma medical registrar positions (Alfred), one Drug and Alcohol and Healthlink complex care registrar position (Alfred), one Advance Training Registrar position in General Medicine (Cabrini Malvern) and one Principal Registrar position (Alfred) (see below).
Successful applicants will be allocated clinical rotations based on RACP requirements, and preferences where possible. Successful applicants may also attend a sub-specialty clinic of interest where possible and contribute to clinical research projects, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and professional development programs.
Rotations are designed to meet the RACP PREP Advanced Training curriculum in General and Acute Care Medicine.
This leadership position includes 0.5EFT experience in General Medicine and specialty clinics of interest. The position also incorporates 0.5EFT in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, assisting the Directors of Physician Education (DPEs) in coordinating the FRACP clinical and written exam preparation, as well as clinical and educational research opportunities.
