About the Organisation
Alfred Health and Monash Health have established a partnership to deliver a Shared Pathology Service (SPS). This partnership is aligned with the Victorian Government’s wider Pathology system reform to create new public pathology networks. The Shared Pathology Service was successful in tendering for the provision of Pathology Services at Western Health including the laboratories at New Footscray Hospital and Sunshine. We are working in partnership to ensure we meet future demands and continue to provide high quality pathology services for our patients and the community across both health service.
The Role
To perform a wide range of routine Microbiology tests unsupervised (after a period of training). Initially this role will be responsible for supporting the Supervising Scientist in Microbiology with the set-up and verification of new instruments across the Western Health Laboratories (WH) at New Footscray Hospital and Sunshine Hospital. The incumbent will carry-out day-to-day equipment maintenance, perform quality control, stocktake and unpacking of deliveries and quality assurance programs, as required.
When the Western Health laboratories become operational, this position will be primarily based at the New Footscray Hospital laboratory but may be required to work at other campuses across the Shared Pathology Service, including but not limited to the Prahan laboratory. If based at a site with a 24/7 service, this role would require participation in a 24/7 rotating roster and associated on-call roster.
Key Skills and Qualification(s)
Able to communicate well both verbally and in writing
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
