The Department

The Pharmacy services operate over 4 sites within Alfred Health and involve in training interns, undergraduate and overseas research students. Pharmacists are essential members of all clinical teams and have a critical role in patient management. Their understanding of Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology and Medicine Management ensures Alfred Health patients receive the best pharmacy care possible. The Pharmacy Digital Health team, part of the Pharmacy Department, has responsibilities spanning across all clinical information systems with medication components. This includes the Cerner Electronic Medical Record (EMR), CERNER Oncology, iPharmacy, Omnicell Automated Dispensing Machines, PowerTrials and Smart Infusion Pumps, all of which work in an integrated manner.

 

Position Summary

The Senior Pharmacist – Digital Health will work closely with the Pharmacy Digital Health leadership team and clinical stakeholders across Alfred Health to further develop and refine the digital health medication footprint at Alfred Health. The role will have key responsibilities in managing cutting edge projects, including first in country implementations, and working in partnership with clinicians and vendors to develop new digital health functionality.

 

This position offers a unique opportunity to join an exciting and motivated team, and will provide opportunities for project management and personal professional development. They will be responsible for ensuring that their team of pharmacists and/or business analysts is meeting performance goals and objectives, as well as providing guidance and support to all team members. There is also a strong focus on research within the team and there will be opportunities to undertake digital health research projects under the guidance of the Clinical and Technical Leads of the team.

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • Registered pharmacist in Australia
  • Extensive hospital pharmacy experience with a demonstrated understanding of contemporary practice in hospital pharmacy services, drug therapy and health care administration highly desirable
  • Experience in project management and supervision of team members
  • Knowledge of and experience with Cerner EMR or equivalent EMR implementations and systems highly desirable
  • A tertiary degree and /or professional qualification(s) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Health Informatics or IT / Pharmacy Practice highly desirable
  • Experience in change-management desirable
