About us

In October 2019, a new purpose-built Trauma and Orthopaedics ward, 5 West, opened at The Alfred. 5 West is a 40-bed ward (including 8 single-bed patient rooms), with a dedicated surgical procedure zone, active therapy zones and spaces for families and carers.

The redeveloped ward provided an opportunity to create a contemporary Allied Health workforce model. The new Allied Health workforce enabled early, intensive intervention across physical, functional and cognitive domains with attention on achievement of patient directed goals. The expanded multidisciplinary model is delivered 7 days a week and is aimed at supporting improved recovery outcomes for Trauma and Orthopaedic patients.

The Ward 5 West Allied Health team includes clinicians from Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Orthotics and Prosthetics, Speech Pathology, Social Work, Nutrition and Psychology (including Neuropsychology) and will be supported by Allied Health Assistants. The Allied Health team works closely with the Nursing and Medical teams to provide a comprehensive and timely service to patients on Ward 5 West.

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will provide a full range of neuropsychology services including assessment, psycho-education/counselling, behaviour support and cognitive rehabilitatation to patients on ward 5 WEST. Liaison with and collaborative work with other members of the multi-disciplinary team is an essential aspect of the position. You will also be expected to participate in Psychology and Trauma/5West professional development and service development activities.

About you

  • Masters or Doctoral degree in Clinical Neuropsychology
  • Registration and endorsement as a Clinical Neuropsychologist under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (Victoria) Act 2009
  • Experience working as a neuropsychologist in an acute or rehabilitation hospital setting
  • Australian working rights and be willing to undergo a Background Check
  • Full Covid-19 and 2024 Influenza vaccination
