DEPARTMENT SUMMARY
The Neurophysiology Department delivers specialised neurodiagnostic services across inpatient, outpatient and surgical settings.  It plays a critical role in supporting the diagnosis and management of epilepsy, neuromuscular disorders, neurocritical care, and functional neurosurgery.

THE ROLE
Alfred Health is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Manager, Neurophysiology Service (Grade 4 Scientist) to lead our advanced neurodiagnostic services within the Alfred Brain Program.  This senior leadership role is responsible for the professional, technical and operational management of neurophysiology services, including EEG, Video-EEG Monitoring, EMG/NCS, intraoperative neuromonitoring, ICU neurophysiology and complex procedures such as Stereo-EEG.

Working collaboratively with Neurology, Neurosurgery, Epilepsy, ICU and perioperative teams, the Manager will drive service development, ensure high-quality patient care, and support clinical innovation, research and education.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead delivery of advanced neurophysiology services (EEG, VEM, EMG/NCS, IONM, SEEG).

  • Provide expert interpretation and reporting of complex neurodiagnostic studies.

  • Oversee service operations, workflow, resource allocation and equipment governance.

  • Drive service development, quality improvement and accreditation activities.

  • Manage budgets, procurement and strategic planning in partnership with Alfred Brain leadership.

  • Lead, develop and support a multidisciplinary neurophysiology team.

  • Deliver specialist education and training to medical, nursing and allied health staff.

  • Support and contribute to neurophysiology research and innovation initiatives.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, risk, regulatory and professional standards.

  • Foster a positive, inclusive and high-performance culture within the department.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Essential:
- Bachelor of Applied Science / Bachelor of Science (or equivalent)
- Certified Neuroscientist credential
- Minimum 10 years’ experience
- Extensive experience performing and supervising neurodiagnostic procedures
- Demonstrated leadership experience
- Current Police Check and Working with Children Check

Desirable:
- Higher degree (Master’s or PhD)
- Registration with ANSA
- Experience in teaching and research
