About the Team
Infection Prevention and Hospital Epidemiology Unit works directly with the Infectious Diseases Unit and Microbiology Department to provide a comprehensive Infection Prevention Program across the whole of Alfred Health. Offices are located within the Alfred Precinct, Caulfield and Sandringham Hospitals.
About the Role
The Infection Prevention Nurse Consultant (CNC) will work as member of the Infection Prevention and Hospital Epidemiology Team to implement the Infection Prevention (IP) strategic priorities and provide advice and support to all consumers of the IP service. The IP Nurse Consultant while being able to work independently will do so under the guidance of the Senior CNCs and the direction of the IP Program Manager.
Duties
The Infection Prevention Nurse Consultant will work under the direction of the Infection Prevention Program Manager or delegate to achieve the required outcomes of the Infection Prevention Strategic plan. The CNC will be responsible for auditing and assessing compliance with best practice guidelines and sustaining outcomes of quality improvement projects over time. The CNC may be called to other roles within the team such as investigation of outbreaks of infectious diseases or the introduction of new or novel epidemiologically important micro-organisms, as directed by the Infection Prevention Program Manager.
Qualifications/Experiences
- Experience in Infection Prevention
- Infection Prevention and Control Post Graduate Qualifications or relevant post graduate experience/ qualification
- Registered Nurse with a minimum of 3 years clinical experience
- Certificate IV in Workplace Training or other relevant education qualification desirable
- Hand Hygiene compliance accredited auditor desirable or a willingness to work towards same
- Nurse Immuniser Qualification desirable
- Membership of the Australasian College for Infection Prevention is desirable
