The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce, providing new training, education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

The department

Alfred Health’s Dietetics and Nutrition Department provides an integrated nutrition and dietetic service at The Alfred, Sandringham and Caulfield Hospitals. It aims to provide nutritional care to Alfred Health’s patients during their healthcare journey including prevention of malnutrition, optimising nutritional wellbeing and recovery.

About the role

An opportunity is available for an outstanding senior Dietitian to join Alfred Health’s Dietetic and Nutrition Department. The Grade 3 Dietitian will be responsible for the leadership, continued development and provision of nutrition services to Alfred Health’s Renal Service.  The role will work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to advance patient-centred care for this group of complex chronic patients.

Clinical expertise in the nutritional management of renal diseases across the continuum of care, strong leadership skills and a proven track record of coordinating and implementing quality initiatives are key aspects of this role. The Grade 3 Dietitian for Renal Services will support development of services aligned with Alfred (Bayside) Health Renal Unit strategy, and is an active member of the Dietetics & Nutrition Department and its senior team, contributing to staff development, the strategic development of the department, quality and research. 

About you

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • 7 years clinical experience, with at least 3 years specialist experience in renal failure and treatment, including renal transplantation.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to lead a team and proficiency in nutrition education.
  • Experience of continuous quality improvement and leadership in service development.
  • Eligibility for membership of DA and APD credentialed is essential.
  • Postgraduate qualification or be progressing toward one.
