DEPARTMENT
The Department of Cardiovascular Medicine (or Heart Centre) provides a complete range of cardiology services covering General Cardiology, Heart Failure, Structural Heart and Arrhythmia specialities and undertakes clinical research activities in affiliation with Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute. The Cardiovascular Medicine Department is involved in a large number of international and local clinical trials from Phase 1 first in human to Phase 3 randomised controlled trials investigating newly developed drugs and devices for clinical use in Cardiovascular medicine.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Department of Cardiology is currently offering a number of new trials in the development of novel therapies used to treat cardiac amyloidosis, an increasingly recognised cause of heart failure. This has opened up an exciting opportunity for a part-time registered nurse to become involved and extend their interest in the field of clinical trial research. As part of this role, you will participate in the evaluation of many exciting new therapies for cardiac amyloidosis ranging from anti-amyloid antibody studies to potentially curative gene therapies. Being a member of the research team, the clinical research nurse will, under supervision, have responsibility of delivering direct and indirect care associated with the studies. The position is for a 12-month contract commencing early 2025.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Registered Nurse with current Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
- Diploma in Nursing or a Bachelor of Nursing (or equivalent certification)
- Certification in research Good Clinical Practice
- Certification in Safe transport of Infectious Substances by air course. CASA approved.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- A minimum of 5 years of cardiovascular nursing experience
- Research experience, including a demonstrated capacity to produce measurable research outcomes
- Experience in project management is preferred but not essential
- Experience in industry and/or experience with professional societies would be an advantage
- Experience in the preparation of Human Research Ethics Committee and Grant applications would be an advantage is preferred but not essential
