The Department

Alfred Health Support Services provides non-clinical support services across Alfred Health, these services include cleaning services, car parking and fleet management, waste management, gardens and grounds, distribution, security and access control, ward support, linen services, ancillary services, food services and hospitality. 

The Role

The Food Safety Manager/Head Chef is a key operational member of the Food Services team.  Together focusing on delivering safe and nutritious food meeting our patient’s satisfaction. They will oversee the service delivery of all staff within the kitchen to ensure meal quality, times and compliance are always met.  They will responsible for maintaining cleaning standards in accordance with the Department of Human Services Cleaning Standards for Public Hospitals, food safety in line with the onsite Food Safety Plan, the Food Act 1984 and FSANZ standards and in doing so work closely with other Food Services team members to ensure we maintain a committed, safe and socially responsible multi skilled team. They will Lead the development of new recipes and menus in conjunction with our food dieticians ensuring compliance to Food Nutrition Standards.  

Qualifications and Experience Required


  • A background of experience in Food Services as a Chef
  • Extensive knowledge of food preparation
  • Have the ability and adaptability to participate in change
  • Has relevant qualifications as a trade Chef
  • Has relevant qualification in Hospitality


  • Has experience leading a team of Food Service staff
  • Has experience as a head chef in a food services environment
