Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery, improvement, research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, from ambulatory, to inpatient and home and community-based services.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is used in the treatment of decompression illness (the bends), necrotising soft tissue infections and certain cases of severe trauma and problem non-healing wounds such as those resulting from diabetes or radiotherapy.
The Alfred is equipped with one of the world's most advanced hyperbaric facilities and provides Victoria's state wide service in hyperbaric medicine.
It consists of three pressurisable hyperbaric rooms. The largest of which measures 3.1 x 5.8 metres. This provides adequate space for treating the sickest intensive care (ICU) patients when necessary as well as providing comfortable room for up to twelve outpatients receiving routine daily treatments.
Applications are invited for the position of Visiting Medical Officer in Hyperbaric Medicine for as required sessions.
Applicants must be legally qualified medical practitioners, registered with the Medical Practitioners’ Board of Victoria, and hold a Fellowship with the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM), the College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand (CICM) or the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA). Demonstrable relevant knowledge and experience in Hyperbaric Medicine is required as well as meeting Alfred Health requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in Hyperbaric Medicine.
