The Ophthalmology unit treats and care for eye disease related to diabetes, patients with cataracts, infection and inflammation, traumatic disease, immunological disorders and transplantation, oculomotility disorders, age-related macular degeneration, corneal transplantation and keratoconus management. The ophthalmology unit has an active research arm and is heavily involved in medical student and optometry and orthoptic teaching.
Applicants will need both appropriate clinical skills and management skills. Applicants must be legally qualified practitioners, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists. Demonstrable relevant knowledge and experience in Ophthalmology is required as well as meeting Alfred Health requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in Ophthalmology.
