Alfred Health is the main provider of health services to people in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne and is also a major provider of specialist services to people across Victoria. The Health Service operates three outstanding facilities: The Alfred, Caulfield and Sandringham.
Alfred Health is recruiting a Haematologist to advance the development of cellular therapies including CAR-T.
To assist in the establishment and management of the Cell Therapy Unit, in conjunction with the Stem Cell Transplantation Program at Alfred Health, under the direction of the Malignant Haematology & Stem Cell Transplantation Head of Service.
To establish collaborations with academic and industry, national and international, third parties aimed at the development of on-site manufacturing of cellular therapies with relevance to the treatment of oncological, infectious disease and solid organ transplantation related disorders.
To develop or pursue investigation in areas within stem cell transplantation such as transplantation biology, clinical outcomes research, translational research and cancer immunotherapy.
To participate in wider malignant haematology inpatient and consultative services within Alfred Health and the referral region.
Joint appointment with Monash University will be offered depending on the applicant. Research support will be negotiated.
Appointees must be legally qualified practitioners, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia. Experience in clinical application and development of cellular therapies including CAR-T is essential. Demonstrable relevant knowledge and experience in Clinical Haematology is required as well as meeting Alfred Health requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in Clinical Haematology.
Additional requirements: This is a significant position in malignant haematology to advance the clinical application and clinical and translational research in the area of cellular therapies. A proven track record in securing peer-reviewed funding, publications and research will be viewed favorably. Experience as a lead in investigator-initiated or collaborative group studies is an advantage. A higher research degree (e.g. PhD or MD) in immunotherapy or a related field is required.
