Alfred Health is the main provider of health services to people in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne and is also a major provider of specialist services to people across Victoria. The Health Service operates three outstanding facilities: The Alfred, Caulfield and Sandringham and a range of community-based services.
Alfred Health is looking to recruit a psychiatrist to work with the headspace Centres at Elsternwick and/or Bentleigh. The position may be based at the centre in Elsternwick and/or Bentleigh and offers an exciting opportunity to be involved in an innovative clinical program based in a primary mental health setting and emphasising prevention, early intervention and client-directed outcomes.
The psychiatrist will be involved in the direct delivery of clinical care to young people aged between 12 and 25 as a private provider of care under the Medical Benefit scheme. The psychiatrist will work to ensure that clients and families receive clinical care that is youth-centred, involves families, orientated towards recovery, and evidence-based. S/he will also work in collaboration with local services to facilitate the organization’s objective of delivering an integrated, responsive and high quality system of care for young people with early psychosis in the community.
This position is well supported by the practice management and clinical leadership teams. As a private practitioner you will be well supported with reception services, appointment booking and management, initial assessment of clients, billing and payment via the Medicare system and clinical back up to manage risk and/ or referral to other services.
Applicants must be legally qualified practitioners, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and a Fellow of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. Demonstrable relevant knowledge and experience in Psychiatry is required as well as meeting Alfred Health requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in Psychiatry.
