Alfred Health is a major provider of specialist services throughout the State of Victoria and one of the Australia’s leading public health care providers. The Health Service operates three outstanding facilities in Melbourne’s inner south-east: The Alfred, Caulfield and Sandringham. With a budget in excess of $1bn and around 8500 staff, Alfred Health is a national pacesetter, consistently linked to progressive developments in care.  There is strong involvement with medical research and training through collaborative relationships – as a member of Monash Partners Academic Health Science Centre and also through the onsite Alfred Research Alliance (previously known as AMREP). With around 1000 beds across three main campuses, Alfred Health offers the most comprehensive range of adult specialist medical and surgical services in Victoria, including a number of State wide services. It treats in excess of 100,000 inpatients and around 110,000 emergency patients annually.

The Alfred Hyperbaric Service is one of the world's most active and technologically advanced hyperbaric units, with a diverse and often complex case mix of acute and elective work. We provide Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) to people with decompression illness (commonly known as 'the bends'), non-healing wounds and serious soft-tissue infections.

We provide care to inpatients and outpatients in either a multi-place or mono-place setting, treating patients in patients in beds (such as those from Intensive Care) as well as people coming in for routine daily treatments.

Applicants must be legally qualified practitioners, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and a Specialist medical practitioner with critical care experience who holds a diploma in diving and hyperbaric medicine or equivalent. The applicant should demonstrate relevant contemporary knowledge and experience in Hyperbaric Medicine and meets Alfred Health requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in Hyperbaric Medicine.
