The Department

Alfred Health’s Dietetics and Nutrition Department provides an integrated nutrition and dietetic service at The Alfred, Sandringham and Caulfield Hospitals. This position is based at The Alfred Hospital. The joint Nutrition Department is comprised of approximately 46EFT and 65 staff members. It is organised into 7 clinical streams and provides a 7-day service. Using evidenced-based, patient-centred care it provides clinical expertise to Alfred Health's patients during their healthcare journey, including the prevention and treatment of malnutrition and the optimisation of nutritional wellbeing and recover through tailored, specialised nutrition therapy. 

 

Position Summary

In this unique Senior Dietitian role, you will be responsible for the clinical expertise, leadership, continued development and provision of nutrition services for the surgical services, specifically Bariatric surgery, at Alfred Health. Clinical expertise in the management of patients requiring bariatric surgery across the spectrum of care, strong collaboration and leadership skills and a proven track record of co-ordinating quality initiatives in clinical nutrition are key aspects of this role. This position will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team, who work together to assess, formulate and implement individualised management approaches for patients requiring bariatric surgical care.

 

Skills and Qualifications Required

You will be able to demonstrate the Alfred Health values and possess excellent clinical skills, with at least 10 years of post-graduate experience as a Dietitian, including at least 7 years experience in surgical nutritional management across the continuum of care.  You will be eligible for membership of Dietitian's Australia (DA) DA and Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) credentialing. You will be committed to quality improvement and service development based on best practice.  You will also be organised and efficient, with a commitment to developing others. You will have a relevant postgraduate qualification (Research, Management or Public Health at a Masters level) or be progressing toward one. You will become part of the Dietetics and Nutrition Senior Team, with opportunities to engage in relevant research, quality work and professional development. You will also be provided with clinical supervision and explore opportunities to develop your clinical and leadership skills.
