  • 8 month fixed term position

This position would be ideal for a BPO graduate with a particular interest and inclination towards technical proficiency within the industry. 

The Department

The Alfred Health Prosthetic and Orthotic Department is a progressive and innovative clinical service provider, committed to helping amputees gain improved quality of life.

We are part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team and are committed to providing excellence of care in rehabilitation and ongoing clinical services to all our clients, both private and public. We provide high quality and person-centred clinical management for clients with limb deficiencies of all levels, musculoskeletal and neuromuscular deformities, ranging from cosmetic transfer prostheses to myoelectric and bionic limbs.

The Role

We require a Prosthetic Technician to be key player in the manufacturing of prosthetic limbs according to the guidleines, protocol, and policies of Caulfield Hospital and Alfred health.

You will have good hand skills and technical experience in P&O but also from another profession, industry or the arts with a understanding of ocuupational health and safety practices. You are motivated, innovative and compassionate with strong interpersonal skills and enjoy taking responsibility and pride in your work and your work environment. You will have some general knowledge of rehabilitaion and prosthetic management. You require a strong commitment to evidence-based, self-reflective and best-practice prosthetic technical service provision and to professional development. You will demonstrate excellent communication and collaboration skills, and a commitment to contribute to the supportive team environment. You will be inspired and keen to participate in quality activities. 

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Understanding of the industry
  • Prosthetic/orthotic technical experience preferred
  • Competence with hand and powered tools
  • Knowledge and experience with technical workshop practises
  • JI5A,B,C requires sound knowledge of prosthetic manufacturing processes
