About the Role

Applications are invited for the role of Service Head, Addiction Health at Bayside Health - Alfred Care Group. This leadership position entails 28 hours per week, including a strong clinical presence in the community addictions program (including South City Clinic), in addition to the Alfred Hospital Consultation Liaison (CL) Addictions team and Gambling Minds (statewide problem gambling and mental health program). The Service Head works closely with the Manager, Addiction Health and AMAH Hospital & Emergency leadership to oversee high quality addiction care for AMAH consumers and the local community. This is an exciting opportunity to lead addiction service development and reform in Melbourne's inner south, whilst also contributing to the establishment of clinical pathways across the wider Bayside Health network.

Qualifications and Skills Required

Our preferred candidate must possess the following experience and attributes:

  • Be a legally qualified medical practitioner, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
  • Hold Fellowship of Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, with formal Addiction Psychiatry credentials, or Fellowship of the Chapter of Addiction Medicine
  • Demonstrable relevant knowledge and substantial experience in Addiction Medicine and/or Addiction Psychiatry
  • Meeting Alfred Health requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in Addiction Medicine/Addiction Psychiatry.
  • Research experience is highly desirable
  • Previous experience in formal leadership & management roles is advantageous
  • Outstanding communication skills, including well-developed conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to liaise well with other staff across all disciplines.
  • Demonstrated flexibility in problem solving and the capability to develop and sustain highly collaborative relationships with others/ other teams.
